Creativity Noms, Part 2

In keeping in line with the subject of my previous posting, I also want to repost something that is probably my favorite creative nom of the year so far. It is Andrea Dorfman’s poetry music video How To Be Alone . For fellow introverts, solo wanderers and lone travelers this beautiful video is something that is 101% relatable.  It speaks of things that some people just do not understand nor could they ever. I watched it again earlier this week and still loved it.

Everytime

5-centimeters-per-second

5 Centimeters Per Second, Makoto Shinkai’s second feature film and arguably his masterpiece, is well-known to being a huge punch in the heart for the people who relate to it. Giving off the emotions of nostalgia and a lot of regrets, this movie brings on the sad feelings full on. It’s always beautiful yet painful to watch at the same time.

I just watched it again tonight and all the same feelings have returned. The video below is an extended version of the montage that occurs within the film.

sad songs.

Stumbled across this today while wasting time on the internet: A new music video by The Drums for their song Days.

The video has a nice twist ending and the song itself was undoubtedly my second favorite sad song of last year (the first being Even in Dreams by The Pains of Being Pure At Heart).

Since I’m the topic of sad songs and The Drums, I’ve been listening to their song Submarine off their debut EP a lot lately. Before moving last week, I only had a hard time saying goodbye to one particular person. That song nails exactly how saying goodbye to her felt. It was one of the worst moments of my life (though immediately followed by a super fun LC! gig. Uh, yep.)

“We only write about two feelings: one is the first day of summer when you and all of your friends are standing on the edge of a cliff watching the sun set and being overcome with all of your hopes and dreams at once. The other is when you’re walking alone in the rain and realize you will be alone forever.”

Damn straight. On a side note, I think it’s been about a year now since I’ve last posted anything on here anywhere near the subjects of venting sadness or frustration. That is like a major “whoa.” And I guess a good thing? But yeah, it’s getting too serious here.

Tomorrow’s agenda: Must find a way to watch the Oscars in Hong Kong (unless it’s like already on TV here.) If Midnight in Paris wins for Best Screenplay, I’ll be a happy fellow.
