Travelin’ Again

Well I just booked my hostel to Xi’an and my end-of-this-week trip there is all set. Big kudos to Buddha for having his b-day and giving all us minions a Friday holiday. This will be my 3rd time this year traveling somewhere new for vacation and my 4th time in total (the most recent trip was for work). Since I have yet to post anything from my trip to Taiwan for Chinese New Year and both Beijing and Dubai from last month, here is one photo from each of those awesome destinations. Fun times were had.

Taipei!

Dubai (and Abu Dhabi)

That pizza photo? It was from a ROUND TABLE chain that gloriously exists in Dubai. I could contain my homesick excitement when I first saw in the taxi cab to the hotel.

Introvert Pride!

I stumbled upon this video last week while browsing Vimeo and I’ve watched it several times. It is especially good for people who value the concept of “me time”.

The other works by the filmmaker who created it, , are totally awesome to watch too!

hong kong – day one.

Well, after a super long 15 hour flight (that included me watching the in-flight movies of Jurassic Park, Forest Gump, One Day, Up and Sideways), I finally arrived in Hong Kong and am now typing this from my service apartment in Causeway Bay.

My bedroom window view. The first of many McDonalds on this block.

The amount of skyscrapers in Hong Kong blows my mind. It’s like New York City times ten. But instead of wandering the big town, one of the guys from where I will be working at invited me out to go with him and his sister to Yung Shue Wan on Lamma Island, one of the slower paced islands of Hong Kong. It had several cool small shops and an amazing hiking trail that I’d like to venture out deeper into in the future. The beaches were pretty cool too. For eating, we ate at this small vegan restaurant that will forever mark the first place I’ve eaten in Hong Kong (thankfully I fought the urge to go to the 7-Eleven next to where I’m staying on the night of my arrival).

Yep, yep. For the next post, I’ll try to take some more city pictures since that’s where I’ll be around most of the time. I did get two pictures from when I did a little night wandering later in the evening. The first one was taken from near where I’m staying.
